What is base note?
A base note is part of the lasting foundation described in a fragrance’s scent pyramid. It helps characterize the later impression of the perfume. Velario’s base-note lists provide a comparison vocabulary, but they do not specify a fixed duration or a complete ingredient formula.
| Fragrance | Velario Rougeon |
|---|---|
| Family | Warm sweet radiant amber |
| Top notes | Saffron, Jasmine |
| Heart notes | Amberwood, Ambergris |
| Base notes | Fir Resin, Cedarwood |
How should you use this term when comparing fragrances?
Rougeon’s base lists fir resin and cedarwood. Compare that with the full pyramid rather than treating the base as the entire perfume. A listed base note can shape the overall impression without appearing as a separate, isolated stage.
What distinction matters?
The base describes a foundation, not an exact number of hours.
The table reproduces a public catalog description. It is not an independent test, an ingredient analysis, or evidence of another brand’s formula.
